Painting Process

❖ Remove all flaking paint with waterjet
❖ Repair all cracks and imperfections on the surface
❖ Sanding and matching surface texture
❖ Damp proof where needed
❖ Painting of walls

POSIBBLE CAUSES

❖ Painting over insufficiently cured plaster/concrete.
❖ Moisture migration through painted surface.
❖ Inadequate surface preparation.
❖ Use of lower quality paint.
❖ Moisture source and retention.
❖ It can be an indication of waterproofing problem in other parts of the building.
❖ Moisture seeping into the home through the exterior walls (less likely with acrylic paint).

REMEDIAL METHODS

❖ Treat infected areas wit fungicidal wash, then wash off wall by using high pressure water jetting.
❖ Remove algae, efflorescence, unstable matters and loose paint film by high-pressure
❖ water jetting.
❖ Repaint on receiving surface with moisture content not exceeding 16% (for refer manufacturer’s recommendation).
❖ Patch up hairline crack with appropriate plaster material. Recoat affected area with elastomeric coating at minimum dry film thickness of 100μ.
❖ Apply alkaline resistant primer prior to repainting.
